Top 5 Derbyshire wedding venues
We've been to lots of wedding venues in Derbyshire, from beautiful country houses to golf clubs to converted barns. In Derbyshire we also have the benefit of city locations, rolling English countryside or the dramatic Peak District... the choice is yours. I wanted to chat about the top 5 wedding venues we've been to over the past few years and what makes wedding photography in Derbyshire so special....
Number 5 - Shottle Hall near Belper, Derbyshire
Shottle Hall is located not far from Belper or Markeaton roundabout. it has the best of both worlds - you can have either the house itself or the Coach House with marquee and although they do often have two weddings on one day, especially on the more popular dates, you can be safe in the knowledge that you will be skillfully separated so you don't need t worry about running into the other bride. AND even better if you choose a less popular date i.e a mid-week you can have the house and the marquee for a very good price. Definitely worth a look!
Advantages: If you book the house there's some accommodation on site, plenty of hotels not far away in Derby, lovely views.
Licensed for ceremonies - Yes
We've been here a few times now and you can see more from Shottle by clicking on the links.... Sarah & Mike - Emma & Simon - Cat & Toby - Amanda & Shaun
Number 4 - The Devonshire Dome in Buxton, Derbyshire
If you are having a very large wedding or are just looking for something a bit different then consider The Devonshire Dome in Buxton. It was originally built as stables for Chatsworth House but now is part of the University of Derby. It is such an interesting building, fab for photos and an amazing amount of space inside - our last couple had a bouncy castle inside!
Advantages: Great for large weddings, plenty of inside space if it rains, plenty of scope for photos.
Licensed for ceremonies? Yes

Number 3 - Park Farmhouse in Castle Donington, Derbyshire
This venue is not far from East Midlands Airport. The weddings are held in the converted barns... this a great relaxed venue, the wedding co-ordinators are all fantastic and nothing is too much trouble.
Advantages: Venue is easy to find, they have accommodation on site, lots of hotels close by, airport close by so you can jet straight off on your honeymoon, relaxed atmosphere.
Licensed for ceremonies? Yes
We've been here quite a few times now, here are a couple...Nadine & Simon - Lindsay & Chris
Number 2 - Osmaston Park in Ashbourne, Derbyshire
You might think it a little strange to have a wedding venue with not a single building in sight but this one is special. Osmaston Park estate was once home to a huge manor house but unfortunately it had to be demolished in the 1960s. In its place they have erected a beautiful marquee fit for even the most demanding of brides.
Advantages: The beauty of a country house estate without any of the stuffiness, able to accommodate large numbers, choice of caterers, you can decorate the marquee to suit your theme. Come and see the venue on 7th April 2013 at their wedding fayre CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
Licensed for ceremonies? No (not yet, but there is talk of a building being available soon) There's a list of suitable places on their website.

Number 1 - Cressbrook Hall near Buxton
This venue is in the little village of Cressbook not too far from Buxton. I love it for so many reasons... the house itself is very dramatic, there are great views over the Peak District, Monsal Head is 2 minutes away and perfect for photos, the orangery and the ability to be able to hold ceremonies outside. There's even a gate house cottage available for the bride to get ready. My only concerns would be space for photography inside if it rains.
Advantages: The gardens, the views, the orangery, the gate house.
Licensed for ceremonies? Yes and you can even get married outside!
